Which residence titles German immigration law provides

German law distinguishes between the visa, the residence permit, the settlement permit, the EU long-term residence permit and the EU Blue Card. Which title applies depends on the purpose of your stay.

Why a mistake in the application becomes expensive

An error when filing the application can lead to entry being refused. Applying for the first title correctly spares you the rework years later, when the title is extended or when you apply for German citizenship.
